Peking University Institute of Systems Biomedicine

The Peking University Institute of Systems Biomedicine (PKUISB), established in June 2010, is a cutting-edge biomedical research institution that spans multiple disciplines, including biology, basic medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and bioinformatics. It serves as an innovative hub integrating research, education, development, and services.

PKUISB is dedicated to tackling major diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders. By leveraging systems biology approaches, the institute aims to bridge the gap between complex disease research and clinical practice. Its mission is to enhance the systematic understanding of the pathology and mechanisms underlying these major diseases, explore new ways to predict individual disease susceptibility and drug responses, investigate more effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, and subsequently provide personalized solutions for health maintenance and disease prevention.

Our vision is to drive the integration of basic research with clinical medicine, foster the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, and advance drug discovery. By attracting world-class scientific talent from both domestic and international backgrounds, and through interdisciplinary collaboration and synergy, PKUISB aims to establish itself as a national research base of global excellence. The institute aspires to play a leading role in cultivating multidisciplinary talent, advancing scientific disciplines, and contributing to China’s progress in biology, medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine.
