Personal Proflie

Dr. Zebin Mao is a professor of Department ofBiochemistryand Biophysics, Peking University Health Science Center. He earned his MD and Ph.D degree at Southweat Medical Universityand Peking University Health Science Center in China respectively. He pursued his postdoctoral training in University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA from 1997 to 1999. He was appointed professor in Peking University in 2004. He has also served as an editorial board member of “Chinese Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology” and a standing member of AntiagingCommittee, China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics.

He has published 20 peer-reviewed papers in senescence-related scientific journals including Aging，Aging Cell, Oncogene, JBC et al. His research was funded by National Natural Science Foundation of Key Grant and General Projects, Ministry of Science and Technology projects and Ministry of Education etc.in China.

Research of Focus

Dr. Mao’s main research interests has focused onmolecular mechanism of cellular senescence during physiological and disease state. His work haverevealed the functioning modes of some transcription factors, protein kinase, and non-coding RNAsduring cellular senescence and senescence-related diseases. These functioning modes take effect fromdifferent level or aspect, such as the transcription level, post-translational level, signal-transduction and epigenetic etc.Meanwhile, he has also made some progression in understanding theroles of cellular senescence during tumorigenesis, such as in pancreatic cancer, esphagus cancer, as well as colorectal cancer.
