Xiaoyun Liu
Dr. Xiaoyun Liu is currently an associate professor of microbiology at School of Basic Medical Sciences, Peking University (PKU). He obtained his BS degree in chemistry from Jilin University in 2001 and his Ph.D in biological mass spectrometry under the guidance of Prof. David Clemmer at Indiana University Bloomington in 2008. After a postdoctoral training in bacterial pathogenesis with Prof. Jorge Galán at Yale University School of Medicine, he joined PKU as an assistant professor of chemistry in 2012 and moved to its medical school in 2019. His group is dedicated to understanding the mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions by harnessing the power of mass spectrometry. The research has led to the discovery of several novel protein post-translational modifications such as protein phosphocholination, E1/2-independent ubiquitination, ADP-riboxanation and phosphoryl-AMPylation. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in journals including Nature , Nat Microbiol , Mol Cell, Nat Commun and Cell Rep.
