Research Directions
The laboratory primarily employs machine learning integrated with metabolomics and multi-omics to discover novel cancer biomarkers; and combines cancer molecular biology to develop new methods for cancer detection and intervention. The research group previously applied multi-omics, machine learning, and mass spectrometry imaging to comprehensively analyze the lipid metabolism characteristics of early-stage lung cancer, developing an AI-assisted non-invasive metabolic detection method for early lung cancer and revealing related molecular mechanisms (Wang et al., Sci. Transl. Med. (2022)). Related achievements were highly praised in articles by journals such as Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology and reported by media outlets in over ten countries, including Xinhua News Agency. The group, in collaboration with others, has also developed a series of AI-cancer metabolic detection methods for different cancers, including pancreatic cancer (Wang et al., Sci. Adv. (2021)), esophageal cancer (Yuan et al., Br J Cancer (2021)), glioma (Zhou et al., eBioMedicine (2022)), and breast cancer (Song et al., iScience (2024)).
In recent years, has published multiple SCI papers as first author in internationally renowned journals such as Science Translational Medicine, Cell Research, and Science Advances; secured funding as project leader for two National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants, a National Science and Technology Major Project for New Generations of Artificial Intelligence (2030), etc., and participated in National Key R&D Program key projects, Beijing Natural Science Foundation-Haidian Original Innovation Joint Fund, COVID-19 emergency special projects, etc.; received the Beijing Science and Technology Award (Second Class), Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award (Second Class), and Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award (Third Class); holds two authorized national invention patents. Serves as Deputy Leader of the Youth Working Group of the Systems Biomedicine Committee, Chinese Association for Pathophysiology; Member of the 3rd Miyun District Youth Federation Committee; Member of the Working Group for the Boya Program in Basic Medicine, Peking University, and Academic & Professional Mentor; Secretary of the Faculty Development Center, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Peking University; Member of the Trade Union Committee, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Peking University.
