报告人简介:
Dr. Shaoguang Li obtained his M.D. degree from China Medical University and his Ph.D. degree from Tulane University, USA. He did his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School in Boston, and began his independent scientific career as an Assistant Professor in 2001 at The Jackson Laboratory, USA. He moved his laboratory to University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2008, and is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine there. His research interests have been in understanding the molecular basis of leukemogenesis and in developing effective and curative therapeutic strategies. He has made significant contributions to the research field of Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) leukemia using a mouse leukemia model, including the discoveries of the roles of Src family kinases, Alox5 pathway and leukemia stem cells in leukemia initiation/progression and resistance to kinase inhibitors. One of his main research focuses is on understanding the biology of leukemia stem cells for developing curative anti-stem cell therapy for Ph+ leukemia and other types of cancer.
