Dr. Lu completed his clinical and PhD training in China , before coming to the UK in 1995. He spent seven years at the Institute of Cancer Research, Sutton, Surrey , to investigate the genetic alterations in a variety of human cancers. During this period, he developed and established several molecular cytogenetic techniques including novel dual-colour FISH on formalin-fixed paraffin embedded sections (Lu et al, 1999), and comparative expressed sequence hybridization (CESH) technique (Lu et al, 2001). He joined the Institute of Cancer, Barts and London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London as a Senior Lecturer in June 2003, where he has set up a Cancer Genetics and Experimental Therapeutics research team. He applied extensively microarray and other molecular cytogenetics technology in the study of prostate cancer and testicular germ cell tumour and recently developed a high-resolution karyotyping approach (Mao et al, 2007) for rapid identification of chromosome translocations and associated genes. He is current hold a tenured postition. Published 54 peer reviewed original papers and 7 reviews including first author papers on Lancet, PNAS and Cancer Res.
