Abstract:

Peng Dong received his Ph.D. training at Duke University and is now a postdoctoral associate in HHMI Janelia Farm Research Campus. The focuses of his studies are 1) to apply single-molecule imaging for quantitative understanding of transcriptional regulation in stem cells and 2) to explore single-cell gene expression kinetics to understand the design principle of gene regulatory network that controls pluripotency maintenance and stem cell differentiation.

Peng Dong is interested in exploring Rb/E2F activation kinetics to define the control logic of cell cycle entry in single cells. He models the potential roles of individual components using an integrated system to follow E2F dynamics at single-cell level and in real time. Dr. Dong's research highlights the design principle of Myc/Rb/E2F network and redefines a model for mammalian cell cycle entry.
